Even the ports are becoming more accessible. At many ports the ship has to anchor at sea and small boats called tenders are used to bring passengers ashore. While these tenders have long been inaccessible to passengers in wheelchairs, a couple cruise lines have now modified their tenders to accommodate wheelchairs and scooters.
