August 26 - Arrive in Rapid City
Arrive in Rapid City, South Dakota. Accessible transfer to your hotel. Get
acquainted dinner. Stay all nights here.
August 27 - Mount Rushmore/Crazy Horse Memorial
To Mount Rushmore standing as a powerful symbol of America's heritage. Later, on
to Crazy Horse Memorial, where a massive sculpture of the great Sioux Indian
Chief is being carved.
August 28 - Badlands National Park
We're off to Badlands National Park, a region of savage erosion and part of the
country where "Dances with Wolves" was filmed. Tonight, a chuckwagon
supper and show.
August 29 - Custer State Park
Explore Custer State Park, in spectacular terrain populated by an abundance of
wildlife, including one of the largest buffalo herds. Also visit Reptile
Gardens, AAA "GEM" rated.
August 30 - Wind Cave Nat'l Park/Mammoth Site
Wind Cave National Park is our beautiful first stop. Then, to Mammoth Site, the
largest concentration of Columbian and woolly mammoth fossils discovered in
their primary context in the world.
August 31 - Deadwood
You may have heard of Sturgis, where about 450,000 motorcycles gather each year? We'll show you where it happens, on our way to Deadwood. The entire city of Deadwood is a national historic landmark, filled with reminders of its lively past as an 1880s gold-rush boom town.
September 01 - Bear Country, U.S.A.
You'll enjoy Bear Country U.S.A., a drive-through wildlife park, including elk, wolves, Rocky Mountain goats, bighorn sheep, buffalo and, of course, bears, all in naturalized surroundings. Later, a narrated ride on one of America's last steam trains. Farewell dinner.
September 02 - End of Tour/Depart
Depart from the West with unforgettable memories!
Reservations: Because this tour is usually limited to 10 or 11 people, we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible to secure your place on the trip. Reservations will be confirmed upon receipt of the required deposit (see below).
Rates include: Coach transportation, hotel accommodations, all applicable sight seeing and admissions as per itinerary, services of a guide. Meals, except as specially noted, are not included, simply because people have differing appetites. You will be met at your arrival airport, and taken to your departure airport. We have electric scooters available for rent for the duration of your tour if you need one.
Deposits: A deposit of 50% is required within seven days after we give you verbal confirmation of your reservation. Upon receipt of your deposit, written confirmation, trip preparation information, etc., will be mailed to you. Final payment is required 90 days prior to trip departure date. Reservations made less than 90 days must be accompanied by full payment immediately after receiving verbal confirmation from our office.
Cancellations: If we receive written notice of cancellation no later than 90 days prior to tour date, a full refund of moneys paid will be made, less a USD $200 per person handling fee. Cancellations occurring between 90 and 61 days prior to tour date are subject to a USD $500 fee. Cancellations made within 60 days of tour date are non refundable. No refunds will be made to guests who are "no shows" or who do not complete the tour for any reason whatsoever. We strongly recommend the purchase of travel/cancellation insurance. This will protect you should the unforeseen happen.
Itineraries: We reserve the right to withdraw this tour at any time. If we should cancel a tour, a full refund will be made. Itineraries may be subject to changes and alterations, by necessity, at any time without notice and for any reason, without allowance or refund.
As you consider our programs, please understand that not all facilities and locations are highly developed for all types of disabled accessibility, and you must have at least some sense of adventure. Our hotels have at least some "handicapped" rooms, and all rooms are accessible. We allocate "handicapped" rooms according to greatest need. Questions? Ask us!
Singles are welcome but if an assistant is required you will need to bring one.
Any party of four or more constitutes a group and may ask us to create a custom itinerary for them, or create a tour for special interests, such as photography, history, etc.
