Sample Independent Itinerary

Day One - Arrive in New York City
Arrive in New York City. Accessible transfer to Times Square hotel for check-in. Spend the afternoon and evening exploring Times Square.

Day Two - Mid-Town Manhattan
Spend your first day in the Big Apple taking in some of the many sights in mid-town Manhattan. Start off by taking guided tours of Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center, where the NBC Studio Tour will take you behind the scenes and onto the sets of several shows, including Dateline and Saturday Night Live. After lunch, take a short stroll over to the Empire State Building where you'll enjoy a spectacular view from the 86th floor observatory. Next, head over to Madison Square Garden for a guided tour that includes a trip into the press box, the dressing rooms, and onto the court, or spend the remainder of the afternoon shopping at the world-famous Macy's department store.

Day Three - Manhattan Cruise/United Nations
Take a wheelchair accessible bus to the pier where you will board an accessible boat for a 3-hour cruise. You will circle the entire island of Manhattan and enjoy great views of New York City's famous bridges and many landmarks, including a close-up of the Statue of Liberty. Next, take the bus to the east side side of Manhattan. After lunch, take a guided tour of the United Nations building, which includes a visit to the Security Council and the General Assembly. At night, take in a Broadway Show.

Day Four - Lower Manhattan
Board a wheelchair accessible bus for a trip to lower Manhattan. Get off near Ground Zero (the former World Trade Center site) and spend some time viewing the area. Next, make your way over to Wall Street and see the New York Stock Exchange. With advanced notice, you can also tour the Federal Reserve and see the large gold reserves in the basement. Finally, head over to Battery Park to get tickets for the ferry to the Statue of Liberty. Then board the ferry for the short trip out to Liberty Island. The Statue of Liberty's pedestal is accessible to people in wheelchairs. Upon return, take the bus back to the hotel. Balance of the day free.

Day Five - Central Park/Metropolitan Museum of Art
Start off by taking a 45-minute tour of the new CNN studios at Columbus Circle, located on the edge of Central Park. You will get a behind-the-scenes look at the news gathering process and see actual news studios. Spend the rest of the morning touring several of the attractions in Central Park on the way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a.k.a. the Met. Park attractions include the Alice in Wonder Statue, Strawberry Fields (a tribute to John Lennon, who was shot right across the street), Bethesda Terrace (seen in many movies), and the Central Park Zoo. Then spend the afternoon at the Met, the largest museum in the western hemisphere containing cultural and historical exhibits spanning thousands of years. Balance of the day free.

Day Six - Independent day
Take a stroll through Greenwich Village and Chinatown, check out the Brooklyn Bridge, visit some of New York's many museums, or catch a ball game at Yankee Stadium. The option are countless!
