KAUAI is the place to go for lush scenery. Nicknamed "the Garden Isle," Kauai is complete with spectacular waterfalls, towering green mountains, beautiful valleys, fantastic rainbows, a massive canyon, and huge rugged cliffs. The island's centerpiece, Mt. Waialeale, is the wettest place on earth. It's no surprise that movie producers looking for natural beauty have flocked to the island to film movies like Jurassic Park and Raiders of the Lost Ark. There's plenty of sun and beautiful beaches on Kauai too, especially in the popular Poipu area. However, it is the colorful splendor of Waimea Canyon and the majestic cliffs along the Na Pali Coast that are clearly the island's top attractions.

Points of Interest

Na Pali Coast - Considered one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, this 17-mile stretch of sea cliffs is a must-see for visitors to Kauai. Unfortunately, the only way to see these 4,000-foot high cliffs is by boat or by helicopter. It's worth the effort though, you'll see spectacular views you won't soon forget!

Waimea Canyon
- Over 10 miles long, 2 miles wide, and 3,500 feet deep, Mark Twain referred to this marvel as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." A lookout area gives you the opportunity to peer out at the beautiful red, green, and brown colors of the Canyon.

Spouting Horn - This blowhole instantly reminds you of Yellowstone's Old Faithful. Ocean waves hitting the shore force water into an ancient lava tube which shoots the water anywhere from 10 to 50 feet in the air. A paved walkway affords you a great view, while nearby vendors sell cheap souvenirs.

Hanalei Valley Overlook - This lookout area offers a great look at the Hanalei Valley. View the many shades of green in this half-mile patchwork of taro ponds backed up by towering green mountains.

Kilauea Lighthouse - Located on Kauai's northernmost tip, this lighthouse was built in 1913 to guide passing ships. Today this National Historic Landmark is a popular place for bird watching and viewing the ocean cliffs.

Helicopter Tours - Since over half of Kauai is inaccessible to cars, the only way to see the true beauty of the island is by helicopter. Tours whisk you across the island giving you breath-taking views of Hanalei Valley, Mount Waialeale, numerous spectacular waterfalls, Waimea Canyon, and the must-see Na Pali Coast.
