Sample Independent Itinerary

Day One - Arrive in Boston
Arrive in Boston. Accessible transfer to hotel for check-in.  At night, catch a ballgame at historic Fenway Park.

Day Two – Boston/Cambridge/Lexington/Concord Tour
Spend your first full day in Beantown by taking a bus tour through Boston, Cambridge, Lexington, and Concord.  You will trace the route of Paul Revere and see many of the places where the earliest battles of the American Revolution took place.  You will also pass by the homes of Hawthorne, Alcott and Emerson, as well as many Boston landmarks.  The tour includes a 1-hour stop for shopping and lunch (on your own) at Quincy Market, located behind historic Faneuil Hall in Boston.    

Day Three – Cape Cod
Board a wheelchair accessible motorcoach for an all-day excursion to Cape Cod.  Stop in  Hyannisport to visit a memorial to President John F. Kennedy, then take an accessible harbor cruise which offers the best possible view of the Kennedy Compound. There will also be independent time for lunch, shopping, and sightseeing in several seaside towns. Admission to the cruise is included.

Day Four – Freedom Trail/Trolley Tour
Board a wheelchair accessible trolley for a 1 hour and 40 minute narrated tour of Boston.  The trolley makes 17 stops along the way and passes by over 100 points of interest.  Get on and off as you like!  Go inside the Old State House, the Old South Meeting House, the Paul Revere House, and/or visit some of the many other landmarks along the Freedom Trail.  Trolleys come by each boarding point every 20 to 25 minutes (Check ahead for the availability of accessible trolleys).  At the end of the tour, get off at the Boston Common and stroll through the park.  Then walk over and check out the scenic Public Garden.  Finally, walk across the street and have supper at the Bull and Finch Pub, better known to most as the “Cheers” bar.  Balance of the evening free.

Day Five – Fenway Park Tour/Harvard Yard
Start off the day with a tour of historic Fenway Park, the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. Visit the place where baseball greats like Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, and Carl Yastremski dazzled the hometown faithful.  The tour includes a visit to the press box and broadcast booths, the new Red Sox Hall of Fame Club, the .406 Club, the Dugout Seats, and Pesky's Pole.  Weather permitting, fans may also walk around the field on the warning track and come face-to-face with the legendary Green Monster.  Next, head over to Harvard Square for lunch.  After lunch, join a free 1-hour walking tour of Harvard Yard.  Tours are conducted by students who point out various points of interest, including Wadsworth House, Massachusetts Hall, the John Harvard Statue, the Widener Memorial Library, and Memorial Hall.  Balance of the afternoon and evening free.

Day Six – Independent day
Visit the JFK Presidential Library, get a panoramic view of the city from the observatory atop the John Hancock Building, go whale watching, or just hang out and catch some sun in the Public Garden.  There’s plenty to do and see in Beantown!
